SPRAY-ON
FIREPROOFING
Spray-on fireproofing being
inspected for thickness
T-BONE Designs, C J Campisi
Spray-on fireproofing is considered passive protection against
severe structural damage in the event of a fire. As such, it is critical
that the proper materials and applications are used in order to
ensure that it functions properly if it is
ever called upon to do its job. As
consultants we ensure that the proper
materials, accessories, and thicknesses
are specified for both new construction
and re-spray after abatement. As
inspectors, we check for proper
thickness, density, and bond strength in
accordance with ASTM and AWCI
procedures. When there are
fireproofing failures, we are routinely called on to determine the
possible cause or causes and to recommend workable solutions. We
are experienced with virtually all
manufacturers and types of
fireproofing including cementitious,
fberous, intumescent, and board type
materials. We also have extensive
expertise in sprayed acoustic material
installations as well.
